This ritual is designed to move through the emotional layers of a breakup with intention and care. You may work through all five candles in a single sitting or spread them across separate evenings, honouring wherever you are in the process. There is no rush here — healing moves at its own pace.

1. Choose a quiet time when you will not be interrupted. Clear your space by tidying the surface where you will work, opening a window briefly if possible, or simply taking a few slow, grounding breaths to signal to yourself that this is sacred time.
2. Gather your candle holders, a lighter or matches, and a journal if you wish to write. Dim any harsh lighting and sit comfortably in front of your space.
3. Begin with the black candle. Before lighting it, hold it in your hands and speak aloud or silently: "I acknowledge what has ended. I honour the love that was real. I release what no longer belongs to me." Light the candle and sit with it, allowing any emotions to rise and pass without judgment.
4. When you feel ready — either in the same session or on a following day — light the white candle. Speak: "I cleanse my heart and my energy. I release the ties that bind me to pain. I welcome clarity and peace." Breathe slowly and let the white flame do its quiet work.
5. Light the lavender candle with the intention of soothing. Speak: "I am gentle with myself. I allow healing to come in its own time. I am safe in this moment." This is a good candle to burn while journaling, bathing, or resting.
6. Light the pink candle when you are ready to turn toward yourself. Speak: "I return to my own love. I am enough. I am worthy of tenderness and I begin with offering it to myself." Sit with this candle and recall something you love about who you are.
7. Light the orange candle last, when you feel even a small readiness to move forward. Speak: "I reclaim my energy, my joy, and my future. Something good is still ahead of me. I step into it with an open heart." Let this candle burn as you envision yourself, healed and whole, living a life that feels like yours again.
8. To close each ritual session, press your hands to your heart and take three deep breaths. Thank yourself for showing up. Extinguish any remaining flame safely rather than blowing it out, and know that the work continues even when the candle is not burning.
