This simple candle ritual can be performed whenever you feel called to reconnect with your sacral energy, whether during a new moon, at the start of a creative project, or simply when you need to return to yourself.
- Prepare your space. Clear your environment of clutter and distractions. You may wish to cleanse the space with sound, smoke, or a few moments of conscious breathing. Dim the lights and create a quiet, comfortable atmosphere.
- Set your intention. Hold the candle in both hands and bring your awareness to the area just below your navel. Breathe deeply and call to mind what you are inviting in — creativity, emotional healing, joy, sensual aliveness, or simply flow. Speak your intention aloud or hold it clearly in your mind.
- Light the candle with presence. As you strike the flame, do so slowly and deliberately. Watch the light catch and settle, and let it serve as a symbol of the energy you are awakening within yourself.
- Meditate or work with an affirmation. Sit comfortably and gaze softly at the flame. Breathe into your lower belly and repeat an affirmation such as: I am a creative being. I allow myself to feel, to flow, and to experience joy freely. My emotions are my wisdom. Continue for as long as feels natural.
- Close the ritual. When the candle has burned out, take a moment to express gratitude — to yourself, to the practice, or to whatever higher power resonates with you. Carry the intention you set into the rest of your day with gentle awareness.
