Working with a chime candle is a simple and meaningful practice that requires very little preparation. What matters most is the quality of your attention and the sincerity of your intention. Here is a gentle ritual to help you get started.
- Prepare your space. Choose a quiet area where you will not be disturbed. Place your candle in a secure holder on a heat-safe, fireproof surface, away from curtains, papers, or anything flammable. Dim the lights if you wish, and take a few slow breaths to arrive fully in the moment.
- Set your intention. Before lighting the candle, hold it gently between your palms and bring to mind the intention you wish to work with. This might be clarity of thought, a deeper connection to your spiritual path, or the release of something that has been weighing on you. Let that intention settle into your body as a feeling, not just a thought.
- Write it down. On a small piece of paper, write your intention in clear, present-tense language, as though it is already unfolding. Fold the paper and place it beneath the candle holder, or set it nearby where you can see it.
- Add supporting tools if you wish. Amethyst, clear quartz, or selenite crystals placed around the base of the candle can amplify the energy of your ritual and complement the violet frequency beautifully.
- Light the candle with presence. As the flame catches, take a moment to watch it settle. Visualise your intention as a living thing, growing stronger with the light. You may sit in quiet meditation, journal, or simply rest in the energy of the space for as long as feels right.
- Never leave the candle unattended. Chime candles burn for approximately 2 hours. Stay nearby and remain present throughout the ritual. If you need to leave the room, extinguish the flame completely and relight when you return.
- When the candle burns out. Take a moment to express gratitude for the practice. You may keep the written intention somewhere meaningful, release it by burying it in the earth, or let it go in whatever way feels aligned with your work. Trust that what you have set in motion is already moving.
