To use your HEM Cedar Incense, begin by placing a heat-safe incense holder on a stable, non-flammable surface. Hold the tip of the stick to a flame and allow it to catch for about 10 to 15 seconds until a small ember forms at the end. Gently blow out the flame so the stick begins to smolder and release its warm, woody smoke. Before you begin, make sure the room has some ventilation — cracking a window or door allows fresh air to circulate and prevents the smoke from becoming too heavy. Never leave a burning incense stick unattended, and always keep it well out of reach of children and pets.
Once your stick is burning steadily in its holder, you can simply let it do its work in the background of your daily routine or incorporate it into a more intentional practice. If you are using it to shift the energy in your space, carry the holder slowly from room to room, pausing near doorways, corners, and areas that feel heavy or stagnant. Allow the smoke to drift naturally and take its time. When you are finished, you can extinguish the stick by pressing the lit end firmly into sand or a fireproof dish — never leave it smoldering unattended or place it near curtains, paper, or other flammables.
