To use your white sage and bay leaf bundle, begin by choosing a well-ventilated room — open a window or door to allow fresh air to circulate and give the energy somewhere to move. Place a heat-safe dish, ceramic bowl, or abalone shell on a stable surface nearby to catch any ash. Hold the tip of the bundle at a slight angle and light it with a candle or lighter, allowing the end to catch for several seconds before gently blowing out the flame. You should see a gentle, steady curl of smoke rising from the bundle. If it goes out, simply relight it as needed. Never leave a burning bundle unattended, and keep it well away from children, pets, curtains, paper, and anything flammable. When you are finished, press the lit end firmly into your heat-safe dish and allow it to extinguish completely before storing.
Once your bundle is going, hold it at a comfortable distance and walk slowly through your space, allowing the smoke to drift naturally. Move through doorways, along walls, and into corners, as these are areas where heavy or stagnant energy tends to settle. You can use your hand or a feather to gently direct the smoke if needed. Focus on any areas of your home or room that feel heavy, tense, or in need of a reset.
