To use your Desert Sage stick, begin by opening a window or door to allow fresh air to circulate and give any shifting energy a clear path out of your space. Hold the tip of the stick over a flame until it catches, let it burn for a few seconds, then gently blow out the flame so it produces a steady, even smoke. Hold the stick over a heat-safe dish or abalone shell at all times to catch any falling ash, and never leave a burning stick unattended. Keep it well away from children, pets, curtains, and any other flammable materials while in use.
Once your stick is going, carry it slowly through the area you want to work with, moving the smoke into corners, along doorways, and around windowsills where energy tends to settle and stagnate. Pay extra attention to areas that feel heavy or rooms that see a lot of activity. When you are finished, press the lit end firmly into sand, soil, or a small dish of salt to fully extinguish it. Do not leave it smoldering and unattended, and confirm it is completely out before setting it down or storing it.
