Hem Sweetgrass Incense Sticks
You've been go-go-go and your mind just won't settle — you need something that actually helps you slow down. Hem Sweetgrass has a soft, fresh, grassy scent with a hint of natural sweetness to it, almost like warm honey mixed with cut grass. It's not overpowering — it's the kind of scent that makes your space feel calm and easy to breathe in. Light one stick, sit down for a few minutes, and let your head catch up with the rest of you. Scent Note: Scent is a deeply personal experience — what smells bold and earthy to one person may feel light and sweet to another. Every nose is different, and that is completely normal. Scent intensity and character may also vary slightly between batches due to the handcrafted nature of these incense products. If you have ordered multiple scents, we recommend storing and airing each box in a separate area, as aromas can mingle during shipping.
To begin your sweetgrass ritual, place your Hem incense stick securely in a heat-safe incense holder, ensuring the uncoated tip rests freely above a fireproof surface. Using a lighter or match, carefully ignite the tip and allow it to catch a small flame for 10 to 15 seconds. Gently blow out the flame and watch as the tip begins to glow and release its soft, honeyed smoke. Find a comfortable pace as you allow the fragrant wisps to drift naturally through your space, carrying their grounding energy into every corner of your room.
As with all burning practices, safety is an act of care for yourself and your space. Always burn incense in a well-ventilated area to allow fresh air to circulate freely. Use only a proper, stable incense holder placed on a fireproof surface, and never leave a burning stick unattended. Keep lit incense safely out of reach of children and pets, and ensure it is positioned well away from curtains, fabrics, paper, or any other flammable materials. To extinguish a stick before it has finished burning, gently press the glowing tip into sand or submerge briefly in water.
Sweetgrass has long been honoured as a sacred plant ally, known for drawing in positive energy and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for spiritual work. Before lighting your stick, take a quiet moment to close your eyes, breathe deeply, and set a clear intention — whether that is peace, clarity, emotional balance, or an open heart. Allow the gentle smoke to anchor you into the present moment during meditation, or slowly walk through each room of your home as you consciously invite calm and positive vibrations to fill the space. This simple, mindful practice can become a beautiful daily ritual that signals to your mind, body, and spirit that it is time to slow down, reconnect, and return to centre.
