Riffle shuffling works well if you prefer a more thorough mix, and simply cutting the deck into sections and restacking them is a valid option if the cards are new and stiff.

For a daily single-card draw, shuffle the deck while focusing on the question "What do I need to know or focus on today?" Pull one card from anywhere in the deck and spend a few minutes sitting with the image and any thoughts it brings up before reading the guidebook entry.

For a simple three-card spread, shuffle the deck and lay three cards face down in a row. Flip them left to right, reading the first card as the past (what has led to this situation), the second as the present (where things currently stand), and the third as the future (a likely direction or outcome based on current circumstances).

Journaling tip: Keep a notebook beside you when you do readings. Write down which card you pulled, your immediate reaction to the image, and any words or feelings that came up before you consulted the guidebook.
