To begin working with the Seasons of the Witch: Beltane Oracle, hold the deck in your hands for a few moments before shuffling. This gives you time to settle your focus and bring a specific question or intention to mind before drawing any cards.

There are three common ways to shuffle oracle cards. Overhand shuffling involves moving small sections of cards from one hand to the other in a relaxed, continuous motion — this is the most common method and works well for beginners. Riffle shuffling splits the deck into two halves and interleaves them together, which is familiar to most card players. Cutting the deck means dividing it into several piles and restacking them in a different order. Use whichever method feels most natural and comfortable to you.

For a daily single-card draw, shuffle the deck while holding a simple question in mind — such as what energy to be aware of today — then pull one card from anywhere in the deck. This is a low-commitment practice that builds familiarity with the cards over time.

For a three-card spread, shuffle the deck and lay three cards face down in a row. Flip them left to right, reading the first card as the past, the second as the present, and the third as the future. This spread works well when you are looking at how a situation has developed or where it may be heading.

Keep a journal dedicated to your card pulls. After each reading, write down which cards came up, your initial reaction to the imagery, and any thoughts or situations in your life that felt relevant. Reviewing past entries can reveal patterns you might not notice in the moment.

If you are new to oracle cards, start with the included guidebook to understand the intended meaning of each card, but do not feel locked into those descriptions. Your first instinct when looking at a card is a valid part of the reading. The guidebook is a starting point, not a rulebook.
