- Prepare your space. Choose a calm, quiet area where you will not be disturbed. Place your candle in a secure, fireproof holder on a stable, heat-safe surface. Clear away any clutter and, if it feels right, lay out a crystal or two nearby — smoky quartz, jasper, or obsidian pair beautifully with the grounding energy of beige.
- Set your intention. Before lighting the candle, hold it in your hands for a moment. Breathe slowly and bring to mind the intention you are working with — stability, patience, clarity, practical guidance, or simply a return to calm. Speak your intention aloud or silently, feeling it move from your mind into the candle.
- Write it down. On a small piece of paper, write your intention in a clear, present-tense statement. Fold the paper toward you and place it beneath the candle holder to keep your goal close throughout the ritual.
- Light the candle. As you strike the flame, acknowledge that you are beginning something with purpose. You may wish to say a few words, a prayer, or simply sit in quiet observation as the candle settles into its burn.
- Remain present and aware. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Use this time for meditation, journaling, or quiet reflection. Allow the flame to hold your intention while you rest in stillness.
- When the candle burns out. Once the flame extinguishes naturally, take a moment to give thanks — to yourself, to the practice, or to whatever spiritual source feels meaningful to you. Keep the written intention somewhere safe, or release it by burying it in the earth or burning it separately in a fireproof dish.
- Close your ritual. Tidy your space with intention, knowing the work has been done. Trust that the energy you set in motion is continuing to unfold.
