This ritual is an invitation to consciously close one chapter and welcome the next. You do not need prior experience — only a willingness to be present and honest with yourself. Set aside thirty to forty minutes in a quiet space where you will not be interrupted.
- Prepare your space by tidying the area where you will work. Open a window briefly if possible to allow stale energy to move out. Lay out your four candles and any candle holders you are using. If you have a journal nearby, keep it within reach.
- Sit quietly for a few moments before beginning. Take several slow, deep breaths. Let your body settle. Think about what you are genuinely ready to release and what you are genuinely ready to welcome in.
- Light the white candle first. As the flame catches, speak aloud or silently: "I release what no longer belongs to me. I clear the way for what is true." Sit with this candle for a few minutes, allowing any feelings of completion or grief to simply be present without judgment.
- Light the yellow candle next. Say: "I welcome clarity, confidence, and the courage to begin." Let this flame remind you of your own capacity — your ideas, your strength, your willingness to try again.
- Light the light blue candle and say: "I speak my intentions with honesty. I trust the path that is unfolding." This is a good moment to write in your journal if you feel called to — even a single sentence about what you are choosing to move toward.
- Light the green candle last. Say: "I grow at my own pace. I am rooted, I am open, and I am ready." Allow yourself to sit in the warmth of all four flames together for as long as feels right.
- When you are ready to close, take a final deep breath and extinguish the candles in reverse order — green, blue, yellow, white. As you extinguish each one, offer a simple word of thanks. You may relight these candles over multiple sessions as your fresh start continues to unfold.
